But this story started in December 2016, when Tara was diagnosed with breast cancer at 37.

WTF?!

No family history. Never had a mammogram. And it was actually her husband, Steve, who noticed something wasn't right. Thank God he was paying attention!

What followed was 14 months of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and a whole lot of learning about breasts that we never imagined we'd need to know.

Now, Lisa had always been a little obsessed with boobs. But suddenly, we were both paying attention in a very different way.

And we started asking questions.

What were we supposed to do the other 364 days a year?

We had routines for our faces, our hair, our bodies. But when it came to our breasts, the conversation seemed to begin and end with finding something wrong.

Surely there had to be more.

We went looking for ways to care for our breasts proactively. What we found was scattered information, some pretty fringe products, and herbal tinctures that tasted absolutely terrible.

Where were the beautiful, thoughtful products made specifically for boobs? Where was the education? Why wasn't breast care already a thing?

So we decided to make it one.

We created Complex Creatures to reimagine how we think about and care for our breasts. Products we actually want to use. Information that helps us make informed decisions. And conversations that go way beyond the annual mammogram.

Because changing how we care for ourselves starts with changing how we think about ourselves.

Complex Creatures started with us, but it's not about us. It's about all of us.
